Sorbead Air

The Sorbead® Air range of BASF is a high performance adsorbent for dehydration of technical gasses, liquids and air. It is a highly efficient line of adsorbents which are alumino-silicate gels in the form of hard, spherical beads, with a low attrition rate and a very high resistance to crushing. Sorbead® Air adsorbents can reduce operating costs for most applications mostly to the fact that they have a longer lifespan than most other adsorbents.

Sorbead® Air R is used in a wide range of applications. Its high level of efficiency and reliability is originates from a unique combination of properties. Sorbead® Air R is mostly used for the continuous drying of compressed air. Other applications are drying of technical- and liquefied gases.

A protective layer of Sorbead® Air WS safeguards the main bed of Sorbead® Air R against liquid water. Sorbead® Air WS water-resistant silica gel adsorbents has a high capacity and protect other adsorbents and catalysts from water and moisture in a broad range of applications. There is only one 100% water resistant adsorbent with a high adsorption capacity as Sorbead® Air WS available. It used as a protective layer in combination with Sorbead® Air R but also for other adsorbents such as activated alumina or molecular sieves.  Due to the high capacity of Sorbead® Air WS it can also be used on a standalone basis as well.

With Sorbead® Air you save:

  • 15% in energy due to low desorption temperatures
  • 5% in energy due to high dynamic capacity
  • 25% to 40% on refills due to long life span
